The City of London is the historic heart of the wider metropolis, a unique sui generis entity with its own Lord Mayor, police force, and governing body. Its modern boundaries closely follow those of the Roman and medieval city. Today, "The City" is a global hub of finance and business.
The map features detailed illustrations of key landmarks in elevation, with numbered locations linked to a legend. Local rail and Underground stations are marked with symbols. Along the sides, the coats of arms of the 'Great Twelve' Livery Companies reflect the area’s rich guild history, while the top centre displays the official arms of the Corporation of London.
