The Torres de Serranos (Serranos Towers) is a famous icon of the city of Valencia in Spain and is one of two surviving medieval city gates that once formed part of the city's defences. Built sometime between 1392 and 1398, it served as a prison for over three centuries until the 1880s, and stored the paintings that were evacuated from Madrid's Museo del Prado during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39).
