This is an original illustrated map of Waltham Forest, a borough of London, UK, inspired by decorative antique map prints and entirely hand-drawn and digitally coloured.
The design reflects the borough’s rich culture and history. At left is its official coat of arms; at bottom right are the crests of Chingford, Walthamstow, and Leyton, which united in 1965 to form the modern borough.
Illustrations show the obelisk at Pole Hill and the William Morris Gallery, housed in Morris’s childhood home. The border draws inspiration from Morris’s iconic wallpaper and textile patterns, while its shape echoes the distinctive tower of the former Walthamstow Stadium.
