This unique map of the present-day railway network in Spain and Portugal is an original, digitally-rendered design that takes its inspiration from vintage railway maps.
It displays all state-owned railways lines within Spain and Portugal that are open to passenger and freight traffic, including the entire Renfe and Comboios networks and smaller regional networks, as of November 2022.
Each type of railway is represented by a variety of stroke widths and styles, graduating from the thickest (high speed lines) to the thinnest (single-track lines), while stations are marked by dots and circles; larger circles represent important interchanges. Enlargements of Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona city centres are included at the bottom right corner.
All placename and feature labels on this map use English exonyms; endonyms and/or co-official names in other languages are written alongside, e.g. Alicante/Alacant.
The design is finished with a simple, elegant border and title with scale bar. For more information about this design, visit this page on my portfolio website.
