This view of Battersea Power Station in south west London, as seen from the opposite bank of the Thames beside the Grosvenor railway bridge, shows the site as it appeared prior to redevelopment in the spring of 2011.

This iconic brick structure, the largest of its kind in Europe, was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott and built in stages between 1929 and 1955. Its time in service was short-lived; it was decommissioned in 1983 and lay derelict for many years. The building and its surroundings are now in the process of being redeveloped into luxury apartments.

This is a digitally-enhanced reproduction of an original pen drawing.
